The government on Thursday said it will take over the system of the education ministry with an integrated IT department.
The ministry of human resource development will take care of the details of the IT systems and the IT system managers will take the care of implementing and updating the system.
The announcement was made by education secretary Sushil Kumar Gupta on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum here.
He said the government will also provide IT solutions and will have a team of experts in the ministry.
Gupta said the ministry will be fully operational by 2021.
He said in the past the IT department had failed to meet deadlines.

The IT department was under the control of the HR department till May 1.
The HR department is now being merged with the department of personnel and training.
The ministry is also planning to introduce the Aadhaar-based identity card and provide free mobile phones to all students, the education minister said.
The new government is planning to set up a new department for digital education.
